MooGoo for baby

I became a mum ten years ago. I was in my early twenties, fumbling my way through, unsure of so much and yet, somehow, taking it feed by feed and day by day.

I followed tradition and joined a mother’s group through my local health clinic. Every week we would meet up for morning tea and discuss birth recovery and sleeping habits; navigating the first year of motherhood as a collective before we eventually went our own ways.

In various local cafes, surrounded by a swarm of prams, we chatted about nappies and onesies and skincare as we carefully cradled babies and coffees. As our little ones grew we discovered an entirely new world of baby-related things that we never knew existed – cluster feeding, the 45-minute sleep cycle, baby-led weaning and cradle cap. It was the cradle cap that had us all a bit perplexed because regardless of our diligence we couldn’t shift it. There were many suggestions and recommendations – olive oil! a gentle comb! MooGoo!

It turns out that MooGoo’s Scalp Cream was the only thing that worked for many of us and since then there’s always been some sort of MooGoo in my bathroom. Over the years I’ve come to trust these simple, natural products, especially during periods where eczema, itchiness and general sensitivity have been rife (usually in summer or when immune systems are challenged).

MooGoo’s Baby Range is beautifully gentle and just right for new mums and their little ones. A few of my favourite, tried and tested, products include:

Nappy Balm : this anti-yeast barrier cream works wonders for sore bottoms. Evening primrose oil and jojoba oil combine to soothe and protect the skin, leaving it smooth and rash-free.

Mini Moo Bubbly Wash : this is our preferred bubble bath because it’s free of nasties, it creates deliciously bubbly bubbles and its scent is very subtle. Colloidal rice bran and aloe work together to soothe and nourish the skin.

MSM Soothing Cream : the soothing ingredients of sweet almond oil, aloe vera and coconut oil are ideal for nourishing troubled, itchy skin. I use this for myself and the kids and I always have a bottle in the bathroom for when eczema rears its annoying head.

Mudder Udder Balm : edible and soothing oils combine to offer a calm and soothing salve when nipples really do need a lot of TLC.

Scalp Cream :  babies are often troubled by skin that becomes red, dry and sometimes itchy around the scalp, hairline, neck, ears, eye areas, and along the side of the nose and mouth. These are oily areas of the skin and on occassion, yeast can become prevalent and cause irritation. A combination of olive and coconut oils work to soothe the skin and return it to its plump, pure, new baby beautiful self.

Have you used MooGoo for your family? If so, what’s your tried, tested and recommended product?

Yes! MooGoo is wonderful stuff!! I have had quite bad eczema my whole life (apparently I’m in a medical textbook somewhere, in photos taken when I was a baby!), and the ONLY non-steroidal cream I have ever found that actually works is MooGoo – and I’ve tried A LOT. I am so glad I found it! The only problem is that it’s quite hard to get in NZ! My friends and I have found a few stockists though 🙂

We are devout MooGoo users! The kids use the bubble bath and the eczema cream and we use the soap in the shower. I rub the eczema cream on my four old most nights on his arms, at the same I am coating my hands in the cream, which is perfect because I get a little eczema on my hands. Lets not forget the lip balm either. They are simple the best.

I’ve not heard of MooGoo before but I also suffer from super sensitive skin and often get eczema. I am going to give this a go, especially after having read Jess’s comment.

I grabbed a tube of the scalp cream after hearing nothing but good things! Hasn’t completed cleared up the baby’s cradle cap, but only because I’m too busy using it on myself and forget to apply it diligently enough on him!
Has completely cleared up the red scaliness I had going on around my hairline and behind my ears. Definitely helping this mumma feel a bit better about herself he he!
