14/52

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”
Che: I see a photo frame, a tree frame and a hair frame.
Poet: She’s all better, ravenous for food and looking glorious in red and white (sweet merino knit c/o paul & paula).

I’ve been in bed for five days now with a nasty throat infection. It’s been a rather challenging week for me, but there were a few of your portraits that really made me smile, including Andrea’s homely captures, simple and pure / Archer and his graze, suspenders and watering can, gorgeous boy / a little dinosaur and his stunning mama / all of Atticus’ excitement is in his hands / and this little boy running down the hollow – it made me breathe a little deeper.
Our clocks changed back last night so it really feels like autumn now. From the looks of the 14/52 portraits already popping up, it seems as though spring is peeking its way through the north. I suppose, in a way, our portraits capture so much more than just faces, don’t they…

we found an amazing hairdresser at our local (and cheap!) salon…this is actually the grown out version; a good indication of a good haircut!

Jodi, will have to get that hairdresser's details off you. Grandma usually cuts the boys' hair but with her once-a-year visit, they have to put up with Mummy giving it a chop chop chop in between. Kian's waves are very forgiving, but Luca's dead-straight hair always makes it look like a home job! I've never found a hairdresser that I like for Luca's hair as we both like it long and they always go crazy! x

I love being able to see the portraits from the other side of the world. It is such a diverse community that links up. I love it.

Gorgeous light on Poet's photo, she looks like she is longing for the outside.

I hope you are feeling much better now.

I have been thinking of Poet, so good to hear that she is fine. WIsh you too a fast recovery! Beautiful portraits of the cuties, Che's hairstyle looks great. Which style did you ask the hair dresser ? Lucky to find a good hair dresser. 🙂

His hair was cut about 11 weeks ago so this is definitely the long version. I usually ask for a 'shaggy' haircut (slightly embarrassing, I know) but I always like how it turns out x

Not at all embarrassing for me! I avoid combing my kid's hair after he gets out of bed, just to maintain that shaggy look. 🙂

    Adore.
It's lovely to see the sunshine arriving & spring blossoming in the north – especially as it helps pick me up during the grey & chilly days we have begun to experience here.
I spent the morning cataloging images – taking in the beauty of the changes in the light throughout the past few months. From the bright golds, to the crisp blues.

    Wising you well, Jodi.

your pictures are as always inspiring Jodi (even on a sick and difficult week), your shots push me to better clarity and focus and better composition. ..although i am still very much at the start of the steep learning curve that this project and my camera presents. But every week your work and the work of others is making me aware of what i want to learn! get better beautiful girl xxxxxx

thank you. Che is slightly out-of-focus this week but I couldn't resist the light, framing and, of course, his expression. I think you'll find that being outdoors more in spring/summer will inspire your photography – new settings and lighting always does. x

That is a super sweet little spotty top. I hope looking at it lots and lots has made you feel a bit better this week. See, caring for sick children has that other sad downside – you get sick yourself and then unless they wear a particularly cute top, they don't care for you back. x

Yes we were hit hard by that throat infection thing, so sorry to hear you've been struck down too. I am still getting over mine and I started being really sick two weeks ago! You've managed to make a beautiful couple of portraits all the same, they are looking more and more like two peas in a pod, how is it that siblings are cut from the same pattern, different cloth?

Glad to hear you're all on the mend.

They golden glow of your babies' hair is just beautiful! Poor you with a nasty sore throat….they are the pits. We've been using oil of oregano here for sore throats. A few drops in juice seems to work wonders (it tastes vile though). Hope you're on the mend soon 🙂 xx

Ummm so is Che in Kindergarten or Year Six!!! I see a frame and a young teenager here. Gorgeous boy (and I agree, with a great head of hair). Manuka Honey – a few spoonfuls a day… Always work wonders when I have throat infections. As does vitamin C powder mixed into some juice or water. Hope you heal soon lovely. X
