“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2012.”
Che: Oh hello 4-and-a-half-year-old-Che-with-attitude! I’m sorry, but no child of mine rolls their eyes at me, even if I’m interrupting breakfast with the camera (my lens has no zoom, hence I need to get pretty close).
Poet: One word: flick.

I thought it was a teenage thing. Clearly it's not. I think we've just had a burst of testosterone – apparently that happens at four. Any mumas of 4yr-old boys care to comment?

It does happen at four, fun & games! I'm sorry I posted from my iphone I don't know why it repeated so many times??

NOOOOO! I'm having struggles with age three… have been looking forward to the easing off of drama that came when Ivy turned four. Now Ted's gonna get some kind of testosterone surge…? The other thing is the half-birthday disequilibrium – have you heard of this Jodi? 2.3, 3.5. 4.5….kids struggle, developmentally. It's all a bit tough. It's been true for mine thus far.

I'm the mama of 3 boys. 4 IS different! I've read they get the same dose of testosterone at 4 that they do at 15. Thats ALOT in a small body. I completely agree about the 1/2 birthday thing too, mine always are accompanied by a fever then a huge developmental leap.

Oh my! I just laughed out loud. Well I should be concerned if the eye rolling is meant to start at 4 .5…

Lovely photos! Think the hormone thing must work for girls, too as my daughter slammed her bedroom door and told my husband and I that she hated us. Wasn't a happy day.
