late pregnancy home days

I’m officially in the later stages of pregnancy and experiencing sudden bursts of energy interspersed with days of complete exhaustion.

I forgot about the pain of rolling over in bed at night, the desire to want to do so much but the lack of energy to complete the tasks and the emotional journey of counting down the weeks and preparing for birth and the fourth trimester. Of course, there’s still everyday life with three kids, work and a house to keep (relatively) on top of and so I just keep chug, chug, chugging, stealing little naps when I can.

I’ve got about 5 weeks to go and there’s still a decent list of things to do and buy. A month ago I was stressed about everything and now I’ve reached the stage where I’m content with whatever will be, will be. We still have to buy a 7-seater car, there’s still a freezer to stock and little clothes to wash but I’m well aware of the fact that the baby, whenever it comes, doesn’t care about any of that.

In the meantime, we’re all wearing layers because winter has arrived with a vengeance. My mum knitted Percy the most beautiful cardigan in the very best wheaty-mustard yarn and I’ve almost finished the baby’s blanket (it’s one of those projects that I want to finish but I’m sad to finish).

I predict that the next few weeks will be all about preparing and resting and nesting; early nights, big-batch cooking, onesie washing, raspberry leaf tea drinking and hospital bag packing.

i’m due in about 6 weeks with our 2nd. our first is 8yo, so it’s been a while and our priorities have shifted since she was born. attempts to focus on simplicity in clothing, gear, etc are often thwarted by well meaning loved ones, but i’m inspired by your blog to keep on keepin on 🙂 best wishes to you for a swift delivery & recovery 🙂

That top image is breathtakingly beautiful. I’m 25 weeks along with my first, have photo shoots scheduled well into my third trimester and am hoping my high energy levels, restful sleep, and general mobility continue. Wishing you all the best!
