welcome home

Early Tuesday morning my little brother comes home. When he left last June I was 36 weeks pregnant with Poet so he’s coming back to a significantly bigger family. Lucky for us his gorgeous English girlfriend has a one-year visa so we get to delight in her loveliness, intelligence and sweet accent – we can’t wait to meet you Imogen!

Josh claims he hasn’t had a good coffee in over a year so I’d say our first stop will be an inner-city cafe (I can’t wait to go to The Grounds of Alexandria). We’ll be spending a few nights in an apartment on Pitt St so we’ll play tourists in our own town and hopefully Daniel and I will sneak away for a quick meal at Mr Wong (we haven’t been on a date since Poet was born..I think it’s about time).

Airport reunions are one of my all-time favourite things so I’m not surprised that I’ve got butterflies about tomorrow. Josh, if you read this before your flight, we’ll be the ones with the helium balloons (Mum’s idea!).

And Immy’s mum…just wanted to say that we’ll take really good care of her…we promise.

I always watch this beautiful clip when I feel like a cheer-me-up (or a little cry!)

    And now I am crying…

I always cry when I meet my family and friends at the airport.
I also think that moment when you go to bed the night before they arrive is so surreal…you are going to be sleeping and that entire time they are up in the air, flying, on their way to you.

    Gosh!
I think I need a trip home…it has been a year since I have seen my mother and I miss her!

Oh how lovely. Having family close by makes my heart sing. I'm living overseas at the moment far from my mum & sisters, and that clip never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I think the balloon is the perfect touch 🙂

I love the Grounds at Alexandria! Have been several times and it is especially good in the outdoor area for little ones that want to run around!

That is a cool video. Ani Difranco sings about hanging out at the arrivals gate just for the joy of watching people being reunited 🙂 Enjoy your time in sydney!

Snap! My brother flew in yesterday morning and the last time he saw me was when I was pregnant with Kian! Isn't that funny! Alas, we've only got him for two weeks. Thanks for sharing that lovely clip.

Have a brilliant time! I adore airport reunions though I'd prefer if some of my fam were a bit closer. I'll meet my new niece for the first time in Feb and I'm already sooo excited! PS dreamt last night I met you in person. PS I've heard Bitton is excellent , and has a good area for kids (also in Alexandria I think). Eliza
