sakura bloom sling diaries – communication
It was grey, wet and windy so we rugged up for a quick dash to the fruit and veg barn. I always wear Poet in the sling when we shop, so I can chat to her as we walk the aisles, sneak her grapes to taste-test and show her the world from up high.
That’s the beauty of babywearing – the opportunity for her to observe and learn from the rituals of the every day.
I wear the simple silk sling in amber.
*note the overt sibling rivalry with the bubble blower turned lightsaber?! Hmmmmmm

Hmmmm I was wishing I had a babe in arms looking at these pics. I miss using my sling and carrying a tot. But on the other side, I also have two boys who use a bubble wand as a light sabre or saver in their case! which always makes me laugh. xx
Such sweet photos. I love your scarf too. Cohen displays similar moments of sibling rivalry when Emerson is in the sling! He will often ask his father to carry him too, or he will pretend to sleep when Emerson is asleep in the sling. But I think he prefers it to the pram, as I can still hold his little hand. xx

Yes, I found that a sling made these mundane parts of life so much easier and more interesting. You can see in these photos how it develops such a great bond too… beautiful.

I loved wearing my now 5 year old- which I did in a sling until she was 1, I cannot wait to wear this one too, I just found it so much easier than a pram-, which I used once and felt too far away from her when she was a baby.

Where to start? The kiddos are gorgeous as ever. How big does Poet look now and how cute is her dimple hat (Phiney has grown out of hers now, but another will need to be purchased for next A/W) And Che with his little basket. Sweet.
And you lady. How long has your hair got? It looks awesome. You make me want to cut my fringe blunt again. And the sling looks lovely. I'm so tempted to get one. Mine just isn't as comfy now Phiney is bigger and to put her in the position Poet's in up there is quite painful. But I adore to sling her. No better way to shop (and peg out the washing!)

Just in case you read this again…have you tried an ergo baby carrier. I suffer neck and shoulder problems and have used that to carry both kiddie in until they were over 1!
How inviting does George's look in these photos? I miss being able to contain Elliott in a sling when we go food shopping… : )

I adore these photos. when we moved up here, i moved to using a sling for our then-7-month-old. much easier to negotiate the hills and stairs to get to the beach 😉 i've used the pram only a handful of times since, for both babies. sarah.

I am really curious about these slings to, I am sure I could find more info, but if you have a specific link that would be great. The only doubts I have is I have know of a couple of people that have used these not just whilst their bubs were newborn but for most if their first year, to go everywhere, and well their children didn't start walking until around 16 months which is really strange considering normal development is between 9-12months. If their was any info regarding this issue that you know of I would be so grateful. It's just something that I know I would def worry about. Thank you

As for affecting development – I don't believe for a second that wearing your child in a sling hinders his/her ability to walk. You would only carry the child for a few hours of the day as an alternative to pushing them in a pram (and no one has ever questioned whether being in a pram hinders a child's physical development). And as for 9-12months being the average age to walk – I think it's more like 12-18months.
OK great I will look up that website, yes I am sure its fine, I just thought it was quite a coincidence, but all the literature that I am reading ( I don't have first hand experience yet) was just saying that the average development was 9-12 months. But, Thankyou
